Three cornered, lightweight vessel. Part of a series based on the Pagan Wheel of the Year.

Beautiful bright red-orange berries appear on Rowan trees as summer transitions into autumn.

Rowan is steeped in folklore. It is variously seen as protective against witchcraft, as protecting the spirits of the dead, as a forecaster of harsh winters and as being a portal between this world and the one beyond.

Since ancient times, almost all parts of the Rowan have been used in healing remedies. In modern medicine, the polyphenols and bio-actives found in Rowan berries are an ongoing research interest for their potential antimicrobial and antidiabetic effects.

The surface pattern technique used to create these pieces allows colour and light to transmit through the vessel, evoking the turn of the wheel and the changing seasons.

Approx. dimensions: 15cm at its widest point x 7cm H

Technical notes: Sheet and powder glass. Three firings. Dropped through a handmade aperture. Coldworked by hand.

All pieces include a dedicated box with protective packaging. Each box holds a card with care instructions on the reverse. Handwash in warm soapy water (not dishwasher safe) or dust with a soft cloth.  This piece is not food safe and is not designed for that purpose.
