Series of asymmetric round vessels based on the concept of Ley Lines.
Ley lines are straight paths that run across our landscape, aligning ancient sites such as standing stones, churches and barrows. It is likely that our ancestors built and used aligning features as trade or religious routes, but many people believe that Leys also represent paths of energy, connecting centres of magical power.
There are a wealth of Ley Lines across Sussex, including a major Ley that crosses through the Long Man of Wilmington - a giant figure carved into the South Downs in East Sussex.
These vessels exploit the earth tone-forming chemical reaction between blue and vanilla coloured glasses to explore the concept of landscape lines and the contrast between earth and sky.
Approx. dimensions: 12cm W x 8cm H
Technical notes: Sheet and crushed reactive glass. Two firings.
Dropped through a round aperture. Coldworked by hand.
All pieces include a dedicated box with protective packaging. Each box holds a card with care instructions on the reverse. Handwash in warm soapy water (not dishwasher safe) or dust with a soft cloth. This piece is technically food safe but is not designed for that purpose.
